The Sovini Group is a Community Benefit Society that provides support to social and not-for-profit businesses across the North West and the UK. They provide investment for building new homes, improving service delivery, and supporting local communities. With more than 14,000 homes in their portfolio, they are responsible for managing and maintaining them all, ensuring that they are habitable and fit for purpose.

Thackery Gardens and Galsworthy Avenue

2022 – 4 months – £480,000

Thackery Gardens and Galsworthy Avenue are two streets in Bootle made up largely of three-storey flats. The housing stock was owned by the Sovini Group and administered by OneVision Housing. As part of their commitment to improving energy efficiency across their properties, they instructed us to decarbonise the flats, lowering their carbon footprints and making sure all changes met PAS2030 standards.


As part of the decarbonisation process, we ensured that all properties in Thackery Gardens and Galsworthy Avenue were fitted with new external wall insulation to reduce the amount of heat lost through the walls. These were then covered with a high-quality render from Wetherby Building Systems, one of the most respected names in the industry.

In addition to insulating and rendering the walls, we also installed new uPVC windows and doors to further improve the properties’ energy efficiency.

Like many of the jobs we take on, this project was part of the PAS2030 scheme. This means that all the work we conducted needed to meet the British Standards Institute (BSI) standard for energy-efficient measures (EEMs). This included the windows, doors, external wall insulation, and rendering work. Every aspect of the job had to be finished to meet the high standards of PAS2030, which we were happy to do.
